    About Barbara

Barbara Acosta was born in 1941 in St. Augustine, Florida. Her journey with oil painting began at the age of 12, progressing as a self-taught artist with Realism becoming her forte'. A high school art teacher took special interest in mentoring her in fashion art, and her endorsement led to Barbara receiving a summer art scholarship to Florida State University, Tallahassee. Her love of wildlife and nature is reflected in the main theme and focus of her paintings, that being animals, landscapes and seascapes. In 1980, she joined 12 other artisans as co-owner of a co-op venture known as Artists' Alley in the Gallery of Fine Shops, Orange Park, Florida. Her paintings grace the walls of numerous homes in Florida, Georgia and Michigan.
